Malenda Trick Art Gallery
Description
Malenda is a self-taught artist who discovered her passion for art at a young age. Her parents, who met in art class in college, nurtured her talent by gifting her art supplies for Christmas. At the age of five, she sold her first artwork to ceramicist Howard Kron for a nickel, who advised her never to give her art away for free. By the age of 16, Malenda was painting nudes using oil on canvas and had sold her first portrait in the seventh grade.
After facing rejection from every art gallery in Nashville, Tennessee, Malenda decided to open her own gallery, which eventually became a successful venture. In 1999, she was discovered by an art licensing agency, and her distinctive style made her a prominent figure in the home decor and gift industries. Her ability to collaborate with award-winning interior designers and her willingness to meet customer demands without letting ego interfere have made her highly sought after.
Malenda's artistic style is influenced by the old world masters and 19th-century impressionists, particularly Monet, Renoir, and Degas. Her work is known for its bold lines, vibrant colors, and captivating textures, often referred to as "Romantic Impressionism." She has painted portraits of notable figures such as golfer Sam Snead, President George W. Bush, and various Tennessee politicians and celebrities.
Her art is featured on a wide range of products including tapestries, stationary items, calendars, designer bank checks, tile and stone murals, trays, trivets, coasters, and even a collection of premium hair brushes called "Diva Does . . .". She has also designed popular Lenox/Dept. 56 Santa figurines.
