Marco Island Historical Society

The Marco Island Historical Society (MIHS) was founded in 1994 with the mission to preserve and share the history and heritage of Marco Island and the surrounding communities. The society is dedicated to discovering, researching, acquiring, and preserving the diverse history of Marco Island, the neighboring islands, and communities. In 2010, the MIHS completed its museum complex, which is used to educate and inform residents and visitors about the area's rich cultural heritage. The MIHS aims not only to preserve the remaining pieces of Marco's past, but also to educate the public about the area's complex history, inspiring both residents and visitors to preserve their cultural resources in Marco and in their own hometowns.
