Tigertail Beach Park
Description
Located on Marco Island, Tigertail Beach offers visitors a range of amenities and natural resources. The beach features a bath house and five boardwalks leading from the mangrove-lined parking area to the white, sandy beach. From the beach, you can see Sand Dollar Island, a nesting area for many bird species, including threatened ones like the Least Terns and Black Skimmers. The tidal bay between Tigertail Beach and Sand Dollar Island is a feeding ground for various bird species such as Herons, Egrets, ibis, Terns, Sandpipers, plovers, Gulls, and even birds of prey like the Osprey.
A visit to Tigertail Beach would not be complete without a leisurely beach stroll to collect shells and other beach items. While live shell collection is not permitted within county parks, you can find a variety of shells, and maybe even a sand dollar, along the shorelines.
For convenience, restrooms are available at the beach, along with a concession offering beach equipment rentals, food, and drinks. A handicapped beach wheelchair is also available. The beach has 226 regular parking spaces and 6 handicap parking spaces. If you have any comments, concerns, or questions, please contact a park ranger.
There is an $8.00 parking fee payable to the Master Meter, or a Beach Parking Permit is required. The beach is open from sunrise to sundown.
